Today, I made German zuckertutes for Hayley's immigrant paper doll report about her Great Grandma Schmidt who immigrated from East Germany--Zwickau, Saxony in 1911.
This is a German tradition for children entering school for the first time. This little tradition originated in my Grandma's home town. This was a fun little treat to share with Hayley's class. We will post her German paper doll we dressed up soon. It is so dang cute!
For the zuckertutues: I used scrapbook paper, cut a half circle then cut an inch and a half from one edge of the diameter, then rolled, and glued one edge to the other creating a cone shape. Then we filled the cone with chocolate kisses and salt water taffy.
