Macaroni and Cheese
4 cups dried macaroni, cooked for 5 minutes--until firm tender
1 pound cheddar cheese, grated
2 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon dried mustard
In saucepan, melt butter. Add flour, stir until bubbly. Add milk and stir until thick. Add salt and pepper. Take 1/4 cup of sauce and pour over egg. Whisk. Pour egg mixture back into milk sauce. Add seasoned salt and dry mustard. Stir. Add cheese. Stir until melted. In large baking dish, pour cheese over cooked macaroni and bake for 10 minutes in 350 degree oven.
Boxed Mac and Cheese does not hold a candle to this dishy dish. This is comfort food at its finest and a child pleaser to say the least. I found this recipe on Pioneer Woman Cooks. I made it for a bunch of teenagers. One of the boys said, "my dad is a chef, but this is the best macaroni and cheese I have ever tasted!" I served up several helpings that afternoon!
